Globalization - is it working for or against us?
Globalization - is it working for us or against us?

Like a lot of things, people from different perspectives have different opinions. The company that is using manufacturing in China and managing it properly, controlling the process, and the design will tell you it is working. The company that ISN'T using manufacturing in China and managing it properly (like a toy manufacturer), may tell you it isn't working. Is it the company in China or the company in the US that wasn't checking the product, monitoring the quality, saftey etc.  It could be both, or one, right?

China is run by one party rule, not a democracy. Historically, the US has stood against countries that are not democratic rule, right? So why are we shifiting all our manufacturing to China then? Did we change our standards? Why are we forcing the middle east countries into democracy, and ignoring China? Are we afraid of China and what they could do to us?

China suppresses the media. Even though we would like to control the press, because they don't always report the facts, the fact is, we expect a free press to report, not a controlled press. So why do we send business to China.

China controls trade into China. China wants free trade in the US, like Mexico and Canada from NAFTA, but is stopping American Products from entering China? Is that free trade? Don't think so. China wants one way Trade Policies. So why are sending more manufacturing there again?

China subsidizes the factories with direct cash to lower prices. Is that free supply and demand trade fair for competing companies. Remember the Airbus and the impact to the airline industry from Europe?

Some people see the Globalization as a cost (loss of jobs, rising inequality, safety, quality, outsourcing) and other see it as a benefit (lower prices, cheaper support costs for phone centers etc).  Where do you stand on this issue. Take our poll in March on this subject.
