What we do

ENGINEERING AND ENGINEERING TECHNOLOGY (Grades 9-12)

The Engineering program is designed to prepare Students for post-secondary engineering and  Engineering technology programs. The District 219 Engineering Coursework utilizes the nationally recognized pre-engineering curriculum Project Lead the Way (PLTW) which offers imaginative and innovative learning and career exploration.

• PRINCIPLES OF ENGINEERING  POE-PLTW (9-12)

• INTRODUCTION TO ENGINEERING DESIGN  IED-PLTW (10-12)

• CIVIL ENGINEERING & ARCHITECTURE  CEA-PLTW (10-12)

• DIGITAL ELECTRONICS  DE-PLTW (10-12)
• COMPUTER INTEGRATED MANUFACTURING  CIM-PLTW (11-12)

• ENGINEERING DESIGN & DEVELOPMENT  EDD-PLTW (11-12)

The D219 engineering program provides rigorous and innovative Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) education with a comprehensive curriculum that emphasizes critical thinking, creativity, innovation, and real-world problem solving.  The engineering program centers on hands-on, real-world projects that help students understand how the information and skills they are learning in the classroom could be applied in everyday life.

In line with the District 219 Board of Education Goal of Advancing and Integrating Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM), Niles Township High Schools continue to expand the engineering / engineering technology curriculum and course offerings. For more information, please visit  our website at http://www.niles219.org/stem.

SUMMER SIZZLING ENGINEERING CAMP (Grades 4-8)

This project-based, hands-on and real-world problem solving camp is based on the successful pre-engineering program of Project Lead the Way (PLTW), offered at both Niles North and Niles West High Schools. The STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) learning activities are designed to nurture kids’ imaginations, inspire creativity and thoroughly engage boys and girls of all backgrounds, igniting their passion and fueling interest in understanding how things work.
