December 8, 2005 -

Dr. Keith McKee joined us for our Annual Planning Dinner and Awards Night on December 8.   He provided some observations about the “What is the Future of Manufacturing?”

Keith has over 40 years of experience in manufacturing and related activities.   He directs Industrial Programs at the Illinois Institute of Technology.   IIT offers the Bachelor of Manufacturing Technology and Management a completion degree for individual with 2 years of college.  IIT also offer the Master of Industrial Technology and Operations, which is open to individuals with 4-year college degrees.    For both degrees specializations are offered in Manufacturing Technology, Industrial Logistics and Industrial Facilities.  

Keith is also President of the Manufacturing Productivity Center – a consulting activity that primarily supports small companies.   He has personally conducted evaluations of over 400 companies in a wide variety of industries.  He is a member of SME and received the SME Gold Metal in 1991.

SME Chapter 5 Announces Officer Changes:

At the Annual December 8th, 2005 Meeting, the following Officer changes occurred:

  • Bob Iossi has been appointed Overall Chairman, Chapter 5.
  • Chris Wetzel willa ssume both the Treasurer and secretary job, as these two positions have now been combined into one.
  • Victor Logan has been appointed as Programs Chairman for Chapter 5.
  • Ken Croswell has been appointed as Scholarship Chairman for Chapter 5.
  • Mike Lester has been appointed as Manufacturing Excellance Certifications Chairman for Chapter 5.
  • Still open is the position for Vice-Chairman
Vic Logan

Victor Logan, Chairman of the Chicago Chapter 5 organization is stepping down as Chairman on December 8th. Victor has served this Chapter for many years. Victor has served this Chapter in many different capacities and most likely will continue to be part of our organization. Please attend the meeting on December 8th to recognize Victor for his efforts. Vic has over 50 years of manufacturing experience. He is also a seasoned consultant and author. Vic has also been part of the Chicago chapter for over 25 years and is heavily involved in the JETS Teams High School competition. Victor will be continuing as the JETS Leader for SME and helping us schedule program events locally in 2006.
