SME PURPOSE/VISION

WHAT IS SME?
SME is where passionate Manufacturing and Engineering Individuals come together for common causes, collaborate, educate, train and certify our members and their companies. To further enhance education and government to meet the needs of the manufacturing and engineering environment.

WHAT WE DO
We partner with industry, education, government, societies, and groups to help provide the connections with SME Members and their Companies in Manufacturing to improve the Manufacturing Environment.

FOR WHO
To serve members, companies and institution’s specific needs related to manufacturing; be it education, knowledge, technical or business related skills. To encourage youth to become involved in math & science (STEM & PLTW as examples), related activities (like JETS, FIRST Robotics) and to encourage manufacturing and engineering careers of our youth through local support, mentorship, internship, and scholarships so that they will become the leaders in manufacturing in the future.

As the local chapter, we also represent SME Headquarters and the SME Education Foundation locally as needed for local meetings, events and trade shows.

WHERE
We primarily cover nine counties - Lake, Cook, DuPage, Will, Kankakee, Kendall, Kane, DeKalb, and McHenry Counties in Northern Illinois.
